Trattoria di' Sor Paolo

Trattoria di' Sor Paolo Situated in the midst of the vineyards and olive groves on the borders of the Chianti, Sor Paolo is the perfect place to dine for those looking for the flavours and atmosphere of the past. Very popular among the Florentines, the name alone is a guarantee of genuine Tuscan cooking prepared by the expert hands of the Ciattini family. The rustic country atmosphere extends throughout the small but characteristic rooms that compose the interior of this old farmhouse and then outside under the loggia, whose tables are always in great request in summer. A visit to the cellars only confirms the restaurant’s genuinity. The only problem here is what unforgettable delicacies to choose... hot chicken liver or tomato, black cabbage or bean croutons, polenta with wild boar sauce, Colonnata lard, Mugello hams or home-made vegetable preserves in oil. Starters are followed by the traditional local soups, ravioli or strozzapreti, pappardelle (ribbon pasta) and other pastas with sauces of wild boar or Boletus mushrooms, and this is not all. Meat courses include anything from boiled meat to stews, mixed fries, grilled meats, especially steaks, chicken, pigeon. Simple well-cooked country food, completed by genuine ingredients, like the local oil, and matched by excellent wines. Not to be missed are the Sor Paolo prunes or the almond biscuits to dunk in Vin Santo.
