Trattoria Coco Lezzone is one of the oldest and most authentic restaurants in Florence. The Paoli family has been running it for decades and every day proposes different dishes based on ancient recipes made with the best products on the market. The mythical roast pork, slow-cooked in an 19th century wood oven (still in perfect working order) or the thin sliced steaks, served with meat sauce “just like Granny used to make”, are all delicious. Real specialities are the traditional Florentine soups, like the pappa al pomodoro (tomato bread soup), ribollita (vegetable bread soup) and pasta with beans. The menu is always inspired by the early products of the season: white truffles, boletus and royal agaric mushrooms in the winter; freshly podded beans or peas, and asparagus in the spring. Here you can quite often come across the many famous celebrities who are now Coco’s regular clients, like Prince Charles of England, Luciano Pavarotti, Roberto Benigni, Monica Vitti, Leonardo Pieraccioni, Luca di Montezemolo, Diego Della Valle and many others. Allow the restaurant to advise you on the wines for your meal as even the house wines are excellent.
